A Response to the Proposed Outrigger Warehouse Development

As a land conservancy rooted in the health and well-being of our local community, we’re deeply concerned about a proposed warehouse development that would dramatically reshape the landscape and livability of our area.

The plan calls for a 330,000-square-foot facility - about the size of six football fields - built on steep slopes near Route 1, immediately adjacent to homes, schools, and feeder streams to Chester Creek (Chester Creek supplies on average 1,830,000 gallons per day of public drinking water). Increased truck traffic, pollution, and light and noise disruption are just a few of the lasting impacts this development would bring.

Residents have been vocal in their opposition. The developer is seeking multiple variances from key environmental and zoning safeguards, citing “hardships” that, in our view, are simply attempts to prioritize private gain over public good.

We want to acknowledge and thank our township council for their ongoing engagement. We urge them to continue representing the public’s interest, including sending legal representation to zoning board hearings and standing tall against variance overreach.

The Route 1 corridor will continue to be developed but the way it develops matters. The people in and around our community deserve thoughtful planning that protects our air, water, and natural areas - now and in the future.
